Ms. Van Velsen has always been a very creative person with a passion for everything artistic and flare for anything innovative. As a graduate from York U/Sheridan College’s joint Honours Bachelor of Design Degree program, Ms. Van Velsen went on to do graphic design freelancing for a number of high end global corporations. Some years later, Ms. Van Velsen decided to take her pension for graphic design and fine arts and turn it into a career in education. Ms. Van Velsen sought to pass along her extensive creative knowledge and foster the arts in the younger generations who are the leaders of tomorrow. After graduating from Niagara University’s Teacher’s College in Ontario program with honours and distinction in her class, Ms. Van Velsen has gone on to teach Visual Arts and Media Arts in several accredited institutions in Toronto and York Region. Now at Royal Crown, it is her hope to inspire and motivate her students to create works of art they can be proud and challenging them to exceed expectations while facilitating their growth towards achievement.
“Art is what your imagination and inclination makes of it, but most of all Art is fun!” ~ Liron V.V
